Hello and welcome to Embracing Industry’s Home Business Series! I am so excited about this series and the women that made it happen.
Adrien and I first met in the Homemakers Ministry at my former church. I love her sweet and bubbly personality, and it shows in her business! I’ve been watching Adrien grow her company, and I admire her professionalism and passion for creating delectable baked goods.
She provides us with valuable insight and encouragement in home and business.
Let’s learn more about Adrien. I hope she inspires you too!
Tell us about yourself?
Hello, I am Adrien Foreman. I am an entrepreneur, wife (of 12 years) and mother of 4 daughters. I homeschool my oldest daughter and own a home based cake and baking business, Sweet Treats Couture. Prior to starting a family, I graduated college and worked as a sanitarian at a health department.
When and why did you start your business?
I began my business seven years ago and before starting, I had tried doing different things to earn extra money while staying at home with my children. I was looking in a magazine one day and an article featured women in business. I started thinking to myself, “what would I do if I were to start a business?”.
I remembered that I had a great recipe and decided that I would take some basic cake decorating classes. I fell in love with cake decorating and everything took off from there.
What is your favorite part about your business? What is your least favorite?
My favorite part of my business is when I have finished working on an order and the client loves it and shows their excitement! My least favorite part is managing the bookkeeping and paperwork.
How do you manage home, family, and business?
Managing my home, family, and business is still a challenge. I think making sure that you start your day in prayer is key.
Also, having a plan and schedule for your day is very important along with reaching out for support from your family and loved ones. I am thankful for a supportive husband and relatives as well.
What one golden nugget of wisdom, would you give to wives and moms interested in starting a business from home?
A nugget of wisdom that I would give to wives and moms starting a business would be to connect with other successful and positive women that will encourage you to keep going through tough and challenging days. It is awesome to have like-minded women who support each other.
What is your favorite scripture that helps you in your business?
My favorite scripture that helps me in my business is Matthew 25:14-30. It reminds me that God gives everyone something, whether big or small, but most importantly to use what God gave you and do something with it.
